Typically I approach a shoot with rough ideas, some props, clothes I like and a "model". I work with friends or fans who have emailed me about shooting together, that I vibe with. I always have models bring a bag of clothes that we throw on the floor and mix and match. It's obviously cool if a girl is comfortable in front of the camera and moves through poses naturally, though I also like the uncomfortability and awkwardness that leads to more unique and honest images. A lot of times I come away from a shoot with images that I couldn't have dreamed up or even knew could exist. I could be working with a girl that I initially chose because of her eyes and the final image could be of her lips. The funny thing is that I always photograph girls that I find attractive. A beautiful face seems to be very important, though in 95% of my images I hide the face. Possibly it's the energy of the hidden beauty that shines through. There are no rules or expectations. One shot leads to the next, until I am emotionally exhausted and I know I can't go any further.
