Rancho Santana

Project Summary

Over the course of 1 week, Matt took a total of 28,000 images consisting of Polaroids, Film, and Digital. We then returned to NY, listened to our favorite music, went through all of the images and narrowed it down to 200.  From these the client chose their favorite 30 that were then produced in sizes ranging from 18x24 inches- 4x5ft.

My Story
I have been wanting to photograph Nicaragua for a while and jumped at the chance to create a unique body of art for Rancho Santana. Being that it was my first time there, I photographed the landscape and ocean with childlike eyes. I felt confident that I had the final images after the first full day of shooting, though the additional 9 days, allowed me to go much deeper into the subject matter. It got to the point where it was difficult to sleep at night, as I was so amped up while creating this body of work. I specifically remember shooting the image “The moment I knew”, as that was when I fully lost myself during the shoot.

Art Show
In accordance with the property’s 20th Anniversary, She Hit Pause had a solo show at Rancho Santana’s Gallery, consisting of the 30 images. The show opened on January 25h 2018 (Opening Reception) – March 1, 2018
